The role requires strong technical knowledge of server hardware, storage technologies, and remote management tools, alongside exceptional organizational skills to ensure smooth operations from ordering to deployment.
You will play a key role in coordinating remote staff, ensuring that machines are set up correctly at data centers, and ensuring the delivery and installation of the required equipment are executed efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hardware & Server Procurement: Manage the purchasing process for servers and components, ensuring timely ordering and delivery based on project needs and inventory levels.
- Vendor & Supplier Coordination: Work with vendors to procure hardware and negotiate pricing, warranties, and shipping timelines.
- Shipping Coordination: Organize and track the logistics of shipping hardware to data centers worldwide. Ensure customs clearance, if applicable, and timely delivery of equipment.
- Remote Data Center Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with data centers and remote technical staff to ensure proper receipt and installation of hardware.
- Technical Oversight: Oversee the configuration and setup of servers, including installing Linux and Windows operating systems, configuring IP protocols, and ensuring the integration of storage solutions.
- Remote Management: Utilize HP ILO and Dell iDRAC remote management tools to oversee the health and operations of servers once deployed.
- Lifecycle Management: Monitor and manage the full lifecycle of servers from procurement to decommissioning, ensuring the company’s assets are tracked and documented.
- Collaborative Problem Solving: Work closely with the technical and operations team to resolve deployment issues and enhance operational workflows.
Requirements:
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of server hardware components (RAM, CPU, storage), storage technologies (RAID, SSD, etc.), and network configurations.
- Remote Management Tools: Experience with HP ILO and Dell iDRAC remote management tools for server health monitoring and remote configuration.
- Operating Systems: Solid knowledge of Linux and Windows OS, including server deployment and configurations.
- IP Protocols: A good grasp of TCP/IP, subnetting, and some basic network troubleshooting (understanding traceroute/mtr, open/closed ports, ssh, ping)
- Project & Time Management: Strong organizational skills to coordinate between suppliers, shipping logistics, and remote data centers while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate and coordinate between internal teams, vendors, and data centers. English proficiency is required; additional languages are a plus.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for addressing technical issues during server deployment or operations.
Work Environment:
- Remote Work Opportunity: Flexible working hours with remote collaboration using platforms like Front, Intercom, Slack, and Asana.
- Collaborative Team: Work closely with the technical, procurement, and operations teams to ensure the seamless delivery and deployment of services.
- Stable Internet Connection: Required for undisturbed communication with vendors and remote teams.
